  • King’s College, London
  • SOAS
  • University of Sussex
  • University of Edinburgh
  • University of Leeds
  • University of Sheffield

Please note that Canon Collins Scholarship  cannot provide scholarships for study at any other universities.

These are full scholarships including tuition fees, maintenance and travel.  In some cases, partial scholarships may be provided.

THERE'S A CATCH! YOU NEED TO HAVE APPLIED FOR A PLACE AT ONE OF THE Six UK Universities  LISTED ABOVE

Applicants must
  • be nationals of or have refugee status in one of the following countries:
Angola – Botswana – Lesotho – Malawi – Mozambique – Namibia – South Africa – Swaziland – Zambia – Zimbabwe
  • have at least two years professional work experience before applying for this scholarship.  Please note that part time work during university does not count towards this requirement.  Applicants without this will not be considered.
 Application Process

The application form is of primary importance as the initial assessment is made on the basis of a completed Canon Collins Trust application form.  The form can be completed on a computer (preferable), typed, or hand written.  It MUST be neat and easy to read. Applications will not be assessed without all of the following:

·         One academic reference in sealed envelope (or sent by email)
·         One work reference in sealed envelope (or sent by email)
·         University academic transcript
·         Certified copy of undergraduate degree certificate

Canon Collins is happy to accept references and transcripts separately from the application and will collate them; however it is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that they are sent.  All documents arriving separately must be clearly labelled with the applicants name and “UK scholarship programme”.

If references are sent as an email, the subject line must read “applicant’s name Reference for UK scholarship”.

References sent by email must be on headed paper with a signature– we cannot accept references written into the body of the email.  Emailed references should be sent to hazel@canoncollins.org.uk.

Please note that references are the only part of your application that can be sent by email. In the case of the work reference, please be aware that confirmation of employment is not sufficient as a reference. We require information regarding your work performance and potential.

If you are not currently employed, we will accept a reference from voluntary work, or two academic references.

Please do not include any additional information with the form, such as CVs, marriage certificates etc as it will be discarded. Please do not include secondary school certificates. Your application will be judged by the quality of the information on the application form.

Please post (do not fax or email) completed application forms and supporting documents to:
